Overview
NFHS Flag Football is a 5-on-5 non-contact high school sport in which teams advance the ball to score while defenders stop plays by pulling the ballcarrier's flag. It is one of the fastest-growing U.S. high school sports, with over 20 state associations having sanctioned girls' flag football by 2025.
How to win
- Touchdown: 6 points; Extra point (PAT): 1 point from 5-yard line, 2 points from 10-yard line; Safety: 2 points (defense)
- Touchdown — Scoring a touchdown awards 6 points.
- Extra Point (PAT) — 1 point from 5-yard line; 2 points from 10-yard line.
- Safety: 2 points — Defense scores 2 points when a safety is awarded.
- Pick-6 scores 6 points — Defense scores a touchdown by intercepting and returning for a TD: 6 points.
