Section 1: Introduction

World Chase Tag (WCT) is a competitive, professional take on the playground game of tag — reimagined as a televised sport with parkour-style athletes navigating a structured obstacle arena. Founded in 2011 by London-based brothers Christian and Damien Devaux, WCT has grown into an international Pro World Tour with national qualifying circuits and team championships. Athletes compete as Chasers and Evaders alternating across 20-second rounds; the format produces viral-clip-friendly moments (mid-air vaults, last-second tags, dramatic close-calls) that have driven WCT's social-media-powered growth.

Section 2: Equipment

Athletic apparel: form-fitting kit (no loose clothing that could catch on obstacles)
Footwear: indoor parkour/training shoes — grippy soles, non-marking
No protective padding required (standard); some athletes choose wrist supports or shin sleeves
Numbered + colored bibs for distinguishing competing teams
Mouthguard optional but encouraged

Section 3: Playing Area

The Quad: 12 m × 12 m WCT-standard arena with 20+ obstacles (walls, vaults, rails, pyramids, ramps)
Padded competition floor; padded outer perimeter
Standardized obstacle layout for international competition; minor variations for showcase events
Camera positions overhead + corner for broadcast coverage

Section 4: Players & Officials

Team format: 6 athletes per team in head-to-head dual
Each round: 1 chaser vs 1 evader (one player per team on-floor)
Officials: 1 head referee + 2 corner judges + scoring judge + timekeeper
Individual + team divisions; men's, women's, mixed-relay championships

Section 5: Rules of Play

Match Structure (Team Dual)

10 rounds total; teams alternate chaser/evader roles each round
Each round: 20 seconds for chaser to tag the evader
If evader survives 20 seconds = 1 point to evader's team
If chaser tags evader before 20 seconds = 0 points (chaser succeeds → no point scored)
Tied 5-5 after 10 rounds → "Eliminator" rounds: alternating role attempts until a team scores while opposite team fails

Round Start

Evader starts in starting position; chaser at opposite corner
"Start" whistle initiates the chase
Both players must remain in the Quad; stepping outside = automatic tag/loss

Tag Definition

Chaser-to-evader physical contact with hand or body = tag
Multiple judges + video review confirm tags in close calls

Section 6: Scoring

1 point per evader survival; team with most points after 10 rounds wins
WCT Pro World Tour: round-by-round scoring contributes to season rankings
Annual World Cup awards team trophy + individual MVP

Section 7: Violations & Penalties

Stepping out of the Quad: automatic loss of round
Excessive force / dangerous play: warning → round loss → DQ
Refusing to engage / time-stalling: warning → round loss
Equipment violations (footwear, loose clothing): correction; refusal = forfeit
Anti-doping: WCT-administered anti-doping policy at Pro World Tour level

Section 8: Safety Considerations

WCT's primary injury risks are sprains/strains from rapid direction changes, falls from obstacles, and occasional collisions. Quad obstacles are padded; flooring is shock-absorbent. WCT mandates: pre-event medical clearance for all athletes (sprint-heart-rate + joint-screening), on-site athletic trainer + EMT + ambulance at Pro World Tour events, AED in venue. Pre-match obstacle inspection by referee panel. Concussion protocol per WCT medical guidelines — removal-for-evaluation if head impact suspected. Weather-stop authority (for outdoor showcase events). Equipment inspection pre-match (footwear, attire).
