Spin serve banned. The technique — colloquially the "chainsaw serve" or "pre-spin serve" — saw players impart heavy rotation on the ball during the hand-release motion before contact, producing serves that became increasingly unreturnable as the technique matured at the professional level. USAPA announced the change in 2022 and made it effective for 2023, restricting service to a release from the hand without spin imparted before paddle contact.

Service-position correction reclassified: players standing in the wrong position at service no longer produces a fault. Positions are corrected as soon as the error is noticed and play continues, removing a long-standing footgun where doubles teams could lose a rally to a positional confusion they had no chance to spot mid-rally. Procedural-rather-than-punitive treatment aligns USA Pickleball with how comparable racquet-sports handle position-correction.
